Music has been around since the beginning of mankind. The first true records of music that we have are from 1450 BCE. This was from the Ancient period, and is called the Hurrian Hymn No. 6. It was written in Cuneiform (the first written language). From then music originated into the Medieval Period into the Renaissance. The Renaissance was followed up by the Baroque, into the Classical, Romantic, and finally, the Modern. All these periods contained qualities that often reflected on the period(s) before them. For example, the Classical period was highly in contrast with the Baroque period. The Baroque period was focused on a lot of ornamentation such as trills and excess background sounds. The Classical period was focused on producing music with restraint and simplicity.
